Send a message to President Bush and other religious fanatics:
KEEP CHURCH AND STATE SEPARATE IN AMERICA!
Unbelievable as it seems, there are still some in
our country (including our current president) pushing for greater entanglement between church and state
despite the very clear dangers of theocracy. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan
under the Taliban (one might even argue feudal Europe) are clear examples of the oppression and corruption that
necessarily follows rule by self-appointed religious extremists.
Mullahs, muftis, cardinals, priests and televangelists may rule their flocks of sheep, but they'll never
rule this great country (America) thanks to the wisdom of the Founding Fathers and the First Amendment.
"Faith-based initiatives" (aka giving your tax dollars to politically well-connected churches), parochial school vouchers,
and 2-ton ten commandment monuments in our courts are steps backward, steps away from pluralism and toward
sectarianism, steps away from equal rights and toward special treatment, away from the principles a democratic
America was founded on and toward those of the theocratic Leadership Council of Iran.
Use this shirt to challenge the Religious Right, or those who just haven't really thought the issues through.
If they can't respect the wall of separation between church and state in America, maybe they'd like to try living somewhere
where it doesn't exist.
If you don't like separation of church and state, move to Iran.
