Step 1 - Acclimate Yourself to Ween

Start with White Pepper. This album most closely resembles the rock you're used to hearing on the radio and in clubs. However, even while imitating and adopting these styles, Ween transcends them and produces 12 great tracks. Unlike with other artists, you won't have your finger on the Skip button as each track begins. Ween's most accessible album, think of this as Introduction to Musical Genius 101.

Step 2 - Immerse Yourself in Ween

Move quickly to Chocolate and Cheese. In my opinion, this is Ween's greatest work. The tracks jump around in style, but the album holds together because of Ween's absolute musical mastery shining through on each one. True to its name, the instrumental "A Tear for Eddie" will bring a tear to your eyes through pure guitar perfection. Put "Joppa Road" or "What Deaner Was Talkin' About" on, hit the Repeat button, sit back and just enjoy life for while. Or try "Baby Bitch" and wallow in sweet self-pity and regret. I'll not continue with the musical spoilers, just get the album and enjoy it. Warning - you may end up buying multiple copies, as your friends will "borrow" this album for extended periods of time.

Step 3 - Experiment With Different Uses of Ween

Twelve Golden Country Greats will surprise you. You probably think you don't like much country, but experience Ween's interpretation and you won't knock the whole genre so readily again. For the first time in your life, you may find yourself thinking "What a kick-ass steel guitar solo!" Seemingly effortlessly, Ween brings the twisted humor of their lyrics and once again, absolute musical mastery to a whole new country stage.

Step 4 - Take Ween to the Beach

The Mollusk is Ween's "theme album," with lyrics and styles inspired by the sea and its inhabitants. The theme is welcome, as once again Ween takes us on a wild ride through sounds and styles. You'll know you're hooked when you start singing along with the groans and dog barks of "Pink Eye (On My Leg)."

Step 5 - Enjoy Ween

You have reached Ween maturity. You are now ready to reach Ween nirvana through the rest of their albums. If you've reached this point, you will not be disappointed.
Pure Guava (1992) | The Pod (1995) | GodWeenSatan: The Oneness (1991)

Paintin' The Town Brown: Ween Live '90-'98 (1999)

Ween's official site is nearly as cool as their music. You may also be interested in the Yahoo! and Open Directory Ween categories.
